Artist's Comments

Misty Yule morning in my local woods.

Ps. This one has just won second prize in the Classic View section of "Take a View" - The Landscape Photographer of the Year awards 2008.

Pps. Thank you everyone for your comments following the Daily Deviation award. Far too many to respond to personally but to answer a few questions.

The wood is old but probably planted originally, it's part of a park near Oldham where I occasionally walk my dog, Skadi.

I had seen the potential of this spot a year or so before but had been waiting for the right conditions. They came on Xmas morning 2007 and I grabbed my camera and the dog's lead and headed out with Debs, my wife, and Skadi.

The shot was hand held but pretty close to the slowest speed I could get away with, I slightly regretted not taking a tripod as well when I got there but what can I say?

I agree and this piece has been suggested by several deviants and it easily understood why, it is a fantastic capture that has such a heavy sense of atmosphere to it, photographed with absolute perfection!
